However, a study by the Treatment Advocacy Center found that the U.S. has only about 11.7 psychiatric beds per 100,000 people, far below the minimum standard of 40-60 beds per 100,000 recommended by experts.

In response, ARC launched its Bellefonte Hospital and Recovery Center in rural northeastern Kentucky late last year. This new comprehensive behavioral health facility and inpatient psychiatric hospital represented a significant milestone in expanding access to care for residents of the Bluegrass State.

With the opening of the facility, ARC officially became Kentucky’s most comprehensive addiction treatment provider. For the first time, this innovative facility enabled ARC to begin providing its patients the full continuum of healthcare — incorporating critical psychiatric and behavioral support into holistic recovery on one campus.

This includes GED preparation for those who have not completed high school and job training in diverse fields such as culinary arts, peer support, and automotive repair. The program also provides resume building, job search assistance, and soft skills like interview preparation to ensure clients are ready to enter the workforce.

Successful reintegration into the community is a vital component of the Crisis to Career™ model. ARC fosters connections with local businesses and organizations to facilitate job placements and internships for clients. This not only provides practical work experience but also helps clients build a supportive network within the community.

Moreover, ARC offers ongoing support even after clients have completed the program. Follow-up services include continued counseling, support groups, and access to resources that help individuals stay on track with their recovery goals.
