In the critical mission to treat substance use disorder, Addiction Recovery Care (ARC) knows that there is no one-size-fits-all solution to helping individuals find healing and achieve long-term sobriety.
Addiction is not merely a physical dependency but a complex interplay of mental, emotional, and social factors — making effective mental healthcare vital to a client’s recovery journey.
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), approximately 9.2 million adults in the U.S. have co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. And about 50% of individuals with severe mental health disorders are affected by substance use disorder.
Inpatient mental health beds are an integral component of the overall healthcare system, providing a safe and controlled environment for individuals in acute mental health crises. However, a study by the Treatment Advocacy Center found that the U.S. has only about 11.7 psychiatric beds per 100,000 people, far below the minimum standard of 40-60 beds per 100,000 recommended by experts.
In response, ARC launched its Bellefonte Hospital and Recovery Center in rural northeastern Kentucky late last year. This new comprehensive behavioral health facility and inpatient psychiatric hospital represented a significant milestone in expanding access to care for residents of the Bluegrass State.
With the opening of the facility, ARC officially became Kentucky’s most comprehensive addiction treatment provider. For the first time, this innovative facility enabled ARC to begin providing its patients the full continuum of healthcare — incorporating critical psychiatric and behavioral support into holistic recovery on one campus.
ARC has developed a groundbreaking approach to addiction treatment known as the Crisis to Career™ model. This holistic program is designed to guide individuals from the depths of addiction crises to successful and fulfilling lives, emphasizing a comprehensive treatment strategy that addresses the multifaceted nature of addiction.
ARC’s treatment philosophy is rooted in holistic care, which means addressing all aspects of an individual's well-being. This approach integrates medical detoxification, behavioral therapy, spiritual support, and life skills development.
What sets the Crisis to Career™ model apart is its emphasis on life skills and career development. As clients progress through the initial stages of recovery, they begin to participate in educational and vocational training programs. ARC believes that gainful employment and the ability to support oneself are critical to maintaining sobriety and rebuilding a fulfilling life.
Clients are offered various opportunities to acquire new skills, certifications, and degrees that enhance their employability. This includes GED preparation for those who have not completed high school and job training in diverse fields such as culinary arts, peer support, and automotive repair. The program also provides resume building, job search assistance, and soft skills like interview preparation to ensure clients are ready to enter the workforce.
Moreover, ARC offers ongoing support even after clients have completed the program. Follow-up services include continued counseling, support groups, and access to resources that help individuals stay on track with their recovery goals. This long-term support system is essential for preventing relapse and ensuring sustained success.
Addiction Recovery Care’s Crisis to Career™ model represents a comprehensive and compassionate approach to addiction treatment. By addressing the immediate crisis of addiction and guiding individuals through a structured program that includes medical care, psychological therapy, spiritual support, and vocational training, ARC helps clients transform their lives. The ultimate goal is not just to achieve sobriety but to empower individuals to build meaningful careers and lead fulfilling lives. This holistic model is a testament to the belief that with the right support, recovery from addiction is not only possible but can be the foundation for a brighter future.
